Utah State's leading tackler arrested on alcohol charge

One of the most experienced and productive member of Utah State's nationally-ranked defense has stepped into a little bit this offseason, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

While the details are scant at the moment, linebacker Jake Doughty was charged Tuesday on suspicion of providing alcohol to a minor.  The arrest was made by a state park ranger and OMG flashback to Findlay State Park circa 1988.

A $1,050 bond was posted for the 21-year-old Doughty and he was released the same day from the Washington County Jail.

The school has not commented on the incident, the first of the off-field variety with which new head coach Matt Wells will be forced to deal.

As a redshirt junior last season, Doughty led the Aggies in tackles with 109 and was named a first-team All-WAC performer.  He's played in 38 games the past three seasons.
