Two more deregulation proposals sent to BoD for reconsideration

Earlier this week, two recruiting deregulation rules – RWG–11–2 and RWG 13–5-A — were suspended by the NCAA's Board of Directors for further review and won't become active unless the BoD reintroduces them for consideration.
The proposals lifted restrictions on who could perform recruiting tasks and on what printed materials could be sent to prospects. Now, two more proposals – RWG–11–3-B and RWG-13–3 — have received the necessary 75 override requests to be sent back to the BoD for reconsideration, according to a release from the NCAA on Wednesday.
March 20 was the deadline for the override requests.
RWG–13–3 was also known as the text messaging rule and essentially eliminated the amount of phone calls/text messages a recruiter could place to a prospect. RWG–11-3-B prohibited coaches from scouting future opponents in person except if said opponents are participating in the same tournament or doubleheader.
The BoD will reconsider the two rules at its May 2 meeting. John Infante writes that the BoD could then modify the rules by perhaps removing the sport of football from the legislation, or allowing them to go into another override vote that could kill the proposals altogether.
Of the 26 initial deregulation rules proposed by the NCAA in January, 21 will go through and become effective in August.
