Dollander Named Final SEC Pitcher of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After six no-hit innings and a win in Thursday’s blowout of Mississippi State, Chase Dollander was named the SEC Pitcher of the Week in the final rendition of the 2022 weekly awards.

For Dollander, it marks his second time winning SEC Pitcher of the Week during the season as he garnered the honor on March 28 after a dazzling outing in the road sweep of Ole Miss.

The sophomore right hander was incredible in his final start of the regular season, holding Mississippi State to one base runner over six innings while striking out six batters. He posted his eighth victory of the season and lowered his nation-leading WHIP to 0.70 while also bringing down his season ERA to 2.30. Dollander finished the regular season as Tennessee’s only pitcher with five or more decisions to hold an undefeated record.

Dollander and the rest of the Volunteers prepare to take on the 2022 SEC Tournament in Hoover, Alabama, beginning on Wednesday, May 25, at 4:30 p.m. CT/5:30 p.m. ET during which UT will face either No. 8 seed Vanderbilt or No. 9 seed Ole Miss.
