KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI) – MEDIC Regional Blood Center is inviting the community to participate in the 14th Annual Keeping David Landes Alive Blood Drive, an event that honors the memory of David Landes while helping ensure a stable blood supply for hospitals across East Tennessee and Southeast Kentucky.
The blood drive will be held Wednesday, November 4, at Petro’s, 7005 Kingston Pike, from 9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
Organizers say the annual event has become a meaningful tradition that not only remembers Landes but also helps save lives through blood donations that stay in the local community.
As a thank-you for donating, participants will receive a special edition blood drive T-shirt along with coupons from several local businesses, including GSM Cabin Rentals, Petro’s, Salsarita’s and Texas Roadhouse.
Donors will also be provided with complimentary breakfast, lunch and snacks throughout the day.
MEDIC encourages donors to reserve a time slot in advance by calling 865-524-3074 or visiting medicblood.org.
The organization emphasizes the importance of local donations, noting that blood collected through MEDIC supports 24 hospitals and regional air and ground transport services across 23 counties in East Tennessee and Southeast Kentucky.
Officials say every donation can help patients undergoing surgery, cancer treatments, trauma care and other medical emergencies where blood products are critical.
MEDIC’s message to potential donors is simple: “When you give local, you save local.”
