KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee baseball is well-represented on the 2021 summer circuit with 14 current players on summer-league rosters, including two on the USA Collegiate National Team.

The first summer ball update of the year can be found below.

USA Collegiate National Team
OF Drew Gilbert – USA Collegiate National Team
Season Stats: 11 GP, .294 AVG, 4 R, 10 H, 1 2B, 1 3B, 3 RBI, 0 BB, 7 K, .382 SLG, .314 OBP

Along with a batting average of .294 and a slugging percentage of .382 in 11 appearances for the USA Collegiate National Team this summer, Gilbert has also recorded four runs on 10 hits and RBIs for the Stripes this season.

RHP Blade Tidwell – USA Collegiate National Team
Season Stats: 3 App, 1-1, 0 SV, 7.71 ERA, 7.0 IP, 6 R, 6 ER, 6 H, 4 BB, 9 K, 1.43 WHIP

In three appearances on the mound thus far for the USA Collegiate National Team, Tidwell has struck out nine batters in 7.0 innings pitched this summer.

Cape Cod League
OF Jordan Beck – Harwich Mariners
Season Stats: 11 GP, .176 AVG, 2 R, 6 H, 2 RBI, 7 BB, .176 SLG, .382 OBP

Beck logged at least one hit in five of his first six games this summer with the Harwich Mariners. In a matchup with Wareham on July 7, he went 2-for-4 from the plate in the 3-3 tie.

California Collegiate League
OF Kyle Booker – Orange County Riptide
Season Stats: 9 GP, .415 AVG, 9 R, 17 H, 4 2B, 4 RBI, 4 BB, 12 K, .512 SLG, .468 OBP

With nine total appearances for the Orange County Riptide this summer, Booker has accumulated 17 hits, four RBIs and a batting average of .415. On June 30 and again on July 9, Booker went 3-for-5 from the plate and scored a run in each of those contests.

RHP Christian Delashmit – Santa Barbara Foresters
Season Stats: 5 App, 2-1, 0 SV, 3.00 ERA, 21.0 IP, 9 R, 7 ER, 12 H, 10 BB, 25 K, 1.05 WHIP

With a record of 2-1 this season, right-handed pitcher Delashmit has struck out 25 batters in 21.0 innings pitched, allowing seven earned runs in that time.

C Charlie Taylor – Orange County Riptide
Season Stats: 6 GP, .409 AVG, 7 R, 9 H, 7 RBI, 7 BB, 6 K, 3 SB, .455 SLG, .567 OBP

Taylor has appeared in six games for the Orange County Riptide this summer, scoring seven runs on nine hits in those contests. He has recorded a trio of multi-hit games along with three stolen bases so far this summer.

LHP Kirby Connell – Forest City Owls
Season Stats: 1 App, 0-0, 0 SV, 0.00 ERA, 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 BB, 1 K, 1.05 WHIP

Connell struck out one batter in his lone inning pitched so far for the Forest City Owls this summer.

LHP Shawn Scott – Forest City Owls
Season Stats: 7 App, 2-2, 0 SV, 11.09 ERA, 24.1 IP, 31 R, 30 ER, 21 H, 29 BB, 31 K, 2.05 WHIP

Scott has struck out 31 batters this summer in 24.1 innings of work. He holds a record of 2-2 with seven appearances for the Owls.

Southern Collegiate Baseball League
RF/1B Jared Dickey – Charlotte Mustangs
Season Stats: 17 GP, .387 AVG, 19 R, 24 H, 3 2B, 1 3B, 7 RBI, 9 BB, 4 K, .516 SLG, .480 OBP

Dickey is batting .387 this summer for the Charlotte Mustangs, with 24 hits, 19 runs and seven RBIs through 17 appearances.

RHP Hollis Fanning – Charlotte Mustangs
Season Stats: 7 App, 3-1, 1 SV, 5.23 ERA, 22.1 IP, 14 R, 13 ER, 22 H, 6 BB, 16 K, 1.25 WHIP

Holding a 3-1 record with one save for the Mustangs this summer, Fanning has struck out 16 batters in 22.1 innings of work from the mound.

Prospect League
IF Trey Lipscomb – Johnstown Mill Rats
Season Stats: 9 GP, .415 AVG, 18 R, 17 H, 3 2B, 16 RBI, 3 BB, 3 K, 6 SB, .634 SLG, .455 OBP

Lipscomb has made nine appearances for the Johnstown Mill Rats this summer, hitting at a .415 clip with 17 hits, 18 runs and 16 RBIs. He has stolen six bases and has hit three doubles thus far.

LHP Drew Patterson – Alton River Dragons
Season Stats: 16 App, 2-3, 3 SV, 4.30 ERA, 31.1 IP, 19 R, 15 ER, 36 H, 5 BB, 32 K, 1.31 WHIP

Patterson has made 16 appearances for the Alton River Dragons this summer and has tallied 31.1 innings pitched. He has recorded 32 strikeouts and walked just five batters.

OF Christian Scott – Johnstown Mill Rats
Season Stats: 10 GP, .242 AVG, 13 R, 8 H, 3 2B, 7 RBI, 11 BB, 10 K, 8 SB, .424 SLG, .457 OBP

Scott is batting 242 this summer, with 10 games under his belt. He has scored 13 runs with eight hits and seven RBIs.

LHP Zander Sechrist – Gainesville Braves
Season Stats: 3 App, 0-1, 0 SV, 3.46 ERA, 13.0 IP, 6 R, 5 ER, 9 H, 8 BB, 12 K, 1.31 WHIP

Sechrist has logged 12 strikeouts this summer for the Gainesville Braves, starting in each of his three appearances. He has pitched 13.0 innings thus far and holds an ERA of 3.46.
