Josh Ward’s Analysis:  Thomas helps fill a position of need at safety. The Vols need to create more competition there, either to find a new starter or add depth that was lacking in 2020. Thomas will help there.

Eric Cain’s Analysis:  A longtime Tennessee target, Thomas chose the Vols just days after decommitting from Mississippi State in early December. Auburn was also in the mix. Thomas is a bigger safety and comes downhill in a hurry to help in the run-game. He’s got speed to close gaps quickly and is a smart player, being a former quarterback. He’s a special teams player who shines on both kickoff and punt teams. Look for Thomas to add depth and be a special teams player right away.
