Knoxville, TN (WOKI) McGhee Tyson Airport will be closing a portion of its long-term parking lot to begin a parking garage expansion project.

Airport officials making that announcement Friday, February 2.

The new airport garage will be six stories and add 3,500 parking spots adjacent to the airport terminal building.

McGhee Tyson will still offer limited garage parking in the long-term lot, and guests will still have access to the short-term parking lot.

To offset the partial closure of the long-term lot, officials will add more than 1,000 parking spaces in the airport’s new Economy Lot C. According to the airport, there will be a 24-hour service shuttle that will transport passengers and guests to and from the airport terminal building which should take approximately 15 minutes.

Airport officials suggest passengers plan to arrive at least two hours before scheduled departure times.
