VFL CHASE DOLLANDER TABBED TO NATIONAL LEAGUE ROSTER FOR 2024 MLB ALL-STAR FUTURES GAME

ARLINGTON, Texas – With 2024 MLB All-Star Week less than two weeks away, VFL Chase Dollander was selected for the 25th annual All-Star Futures Game, as was announced on Tuesday morning.

The contest will take place at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas on Saturday, July 13 at 4:10 p.m. ET and will air on the MLB Network.

The All-Star Futures Game is a showcase of Major League Baseball’s brightest stars of tomorrow: today’s top prospects. The 2024 edition of the 7-inning game boasts 39 members of MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 Prospects list and 24 former first-round picks.

Dollander, currently ranked No. 37 on the Top 100 Prospects chart, is the lone representative of the Colorado Rockies on the National League roster. The flamethrower is Colorado’s top-rated prospect and stands as the sixth-best right-handed pitcher among all prospects. The National League team will be coached by Michael Young.

With the selection, Dollander becomes the sixth former Volunteer to make a Futures Game and Tennessee will be represented in back-to-back years for the third time. A year ago, Drew Gilbert competed in Seattle, Washington, with the American League, recording a single in the seventh inning.

Previous VFLs in the showcase include Nick Senzel (2017), Christin Stewart (2016), Luke Hochevar (2007) and Chris Burke (2003, 2004).

Dollander has been terrific this year for High-A Spokane. In his first season of pro ball, he owns a 3-1 record with a 3.05 ERA over 62 innings to go along with 92 strikeouts, the most in the Northwest League. His electric stuff has netted three double-digit strikeout performances across 12 starts.

Just over a year ago, Dollander was a first-round selection by Colorado, hearing his name called ninth overall. He became the 19th Vol to be taken in the first round and the ninth to be picked inside the top 10. Dollander entered the professional ranks after a stellar career on Rocky Top during which he was a first team All-American and the 2022 SEC Pitcher of the Year.
