KINGSTON, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) – A Kingston man was arrested Monday night after police say he kicked a high chair occupied by an infant child.
According to the Kingston Police Department, officers responded to a home on Kingwood Street around 8:30 p.m. Monday after receiving a call regarding an unwelcome person at the residence.
When officers arrived, they interviewed several witnesses at the scene. Police said witnesses reported that 26-year-old Kenneth Messimer kicked a high chair that an infant was sitting in on two separate occasions.
Authorities said the infant did not appear to suffer any injuries during the incident. Emergency medical personnel were called to the home as a precaution, but the child’s family declined any further medical evaluation or treatment.
Following the investigation, Messimer was charged with assault and transported to the Roane County Detention Facility.
Police have not released additional details about the circumstances leading up to the incident or the relationship between Messimer and the child’s family.
The investigation remains ongoing.
