KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) — Emergency crews responded Sunday to a working house fire in the Halls community, prompting road closures and a request for the public to avoid the area.
According to Rural Metro Fire, firefighters were dispatched to the 7500 block of Cathy Road after reports of an active residential fire.
Crews arrived to find a working structure fire and began suppression efforts. As firefighters worked to contain the blaze, a portion of Cathy Road was closed to traffic to allow emergency personnel safe access to the scene.
Fire officials are urging residents and motorists to avoid the immediate area while operations continue.
At this time, authorities have not released information regarding possible injuries, whether anyone was inside the home when the fire started, or the extent of damage to the structure.
The cause of the fire has not been determined and remains under investigation.
