SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) — A Sevierville man is facing several felony charges after police say he fired multiple shots during an incident Saturday night that prompted a SWAT response.
According to the Sevierville Police Department, officers were dispatched to a reported shots-fired call on Ridge Road just before 10 p.m. Saturday. When officers arrived, they met with the alleged victim and witnesses and located evidence confirming that gunfire had occurred.
Investigators responded to the scene and identified the suspect as 42-year-old Noel Arnulfo Avila-Corea.
Because shots had been fired and officers believed the suspect could still be armed, the department activated its SWAT team to assist in locating and apprehending him.
Officials said Avila-Corea was found in the area of Candy Tuft Lane and was taken into custody without incident at approximately 1:10 a.m. Sunday. Authorities also recovered the handgun believed to have been used during the incident.
Sevierville Police Chief Joseph Manning praised the coordinated effort by responding officers and investigators.
“The coordinated response by our patrol officers, investigators, and SWAT team ensured this dangerous situation was resolved safely without loss of life or serious injuries,” Manning said.
Avila-Corea has been charged with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Reckless Endangerment
- Possession of a Stolen Firearm
- Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Facility
Police have not released additional details about what led to the shooting, and no serious injuries were reported.
Court information for Avila-Corea was not immediately available as of Monday. The investigation remains ongoing.
