PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Story courtesy of WVLT) – Pigeon Forge Schools were placed on lockdown Monday out of precaution after a reported school shooting threat at Pigeon Forge High School.
According to Pigeon Forge Police Department Public Information Officer Craig Cruise, officers responded to the scene and found no evidence of any threat.
“The shutdown was implemented as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and security of everyone on campus while officers investigated the report,” Cruise said. “The Pigeon Forge Police Department is continuing to investigate the origin of the threat. As an added precaution, officers will maintain an increased presence around school property, including tighter patrols during arrival, dismissal and throughout the school day.”
The officer added that school operations had returned to normal around 12:20 p.m.
Pigeon Forge appears to be just one of many school systems who received hoax threats Monday. Several other school districts also had scares.
