Heavy rain led to multiple road closures and a water rescue in Knoxville Monday evening.
According to the Knoxville Police Department, several roads were shut down due to flooding, but by Tuesday morning, only Fifth Avenue remained closed. That area was also the scene of a rescue. The Knoxville Fire Department responded around 5:45 p.m. near Hall of Fame Drive after a driver became stranded in rising water. Crews safely removed the individual from the vehicle.
Officials are reminding drivers to avoid flooded roadways and never attempt to drive through standing water.
Forecasters say rain chances will continue across the area for the next several days, raising the potential for additional flooding issues.
