SEVIER CO., Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) – A worsening sinkhole led to a traffic advisory in Sevier County Wednesday afternoon, as crews worked to assess and repair damage along a busy roadway.
The advisory was issued around 3:15 p.m., warning drivers of developing problems on Boyd’s Creek Highway near Rippling Waters Circle. Officials said multiple sinkholes formed and continued to expand throughout the day, creating hazardous conditions for motorists.
Sevier County officials confirmed the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) responded to the scene to evaluate the situation and determine necessary repairs.
Crews worked to stabilize the affected area and address the roadway damage caused by the sinkholes.
As of Wednesday afternoon, county officials said the roadway had been cleared after TDOT completed on-site assessments and repairs, allowing traffic to resume.
Drivers are still encouraged to remain alert in the area, as conditions can change quickly when sinkholes develop.
