ATHENS, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) — Athens police are searching for an 18-year-old suspect considered armed and dangerous in connection with a shooting that left one person hospitalized.
The Athens Police Department identified the suspect as Cornelius Raeshaun Hurst, who is now wanted on a charge of attempted murder.
According to investigators, the shooting happened at the McMinn Village apartment complex on Westside Street. Officers responded to the scene and discovered a victim who had been struck by what police described as a projectile.
The injured individual was transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released details about the victim’s condition.
Police say Hurst was involved in the shooting and remains at large. Due to the nature of the charges and the circumstances surrounding the incident, officials are warning the public that he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Law enforcement is actively searching for Hurst and urging residents to stay alert. Anyone who may have information on his whereabouts is asked not to approach him and instead contact police immediately.
