KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) — Knoxville Police Department detectives are investigating after a man was found dead Thursday morning in North Knoxville.
According to KPD, officers responded to the area of Maynardville Highway and Black Oak Ridge Lane, where a deceased male was discovered.
Authorities have not released details about the identity of the man or the circumstances surrounding his death. Investigators remained on the scene throughout the morning as they worked to gather evidence and determine what led up to the incident.
Police are asking the public to avoid the area while detectives continue their investigation, which may cause traffic delays along Maynardville Highway and nearby roads.
