KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) – Flooding is being reported across multiple East Tennessee counties as heavy rain and thunderstorms moved through the region beginning Saturday evening and continuing into Sunday.
In Knox County, high water has been reported in West Knoxville, including near Papermill Drive off Interstate 40. The National Weather Service also reports flooding along Shipe Road in Corryton, where fast-moving water has covered a significant portion of the roadway.
Authorities in Jefferson County say several roads have been closed due to rising water. Deputies responded to a home on Piedmont Road where four people were forced to evacuate بسبب flooding conditions.
Emergency officials in Cocke County report flooding in parts of Newport, including along Cosby Highway near a Pizza Hut.
Meanwhile, Sevierville Police say multiple city streets are impacted, including Veterans Boulevard at London Lane.
Flood watches, warnings, and advisories remain in effect across much of East Tennessee through Sunday afternoon as additional rainfall is possible.
Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roadways and remember: turn around, don’t drown.
