Culvert Installation Project to Close Portion of State Route 347 Through September
SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WOKI)— The Tennessee Department of Transportation is advising motorists of a significant traffic impact in Sullivan County as a portion of State Route 347 (Lone Star Road) is scheduled to close for an extended construction project.
According to TDOT, crews will begin work at approximately 7 a.m. on Monday, July 6, to install a new culvert on Lone Star Road at Bear Creek.
The project will require the complete closure of State Route 347 between Christy Drive and Potato Hill Road.
During the closure, motorists will be directed to follow a detour route utilizing State Route 347 and U.S. Highway 11-W to travel around the work zone.
TDOT expects the traffic pattern to remain in place until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, although officials note the schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions.
Drivers should anticipate delays and use extra caution while traveling in the area due to the presence of construction crews and equipment.
TDOT encourages motorists to check current road conditions before traveling by using the SmartWay traffic information system or by calling 511 for updated travel information.
Officials also remind drivers to stay focused behind the wheel and avoid texting, talking on a phone, or other distractions while driving through construction zones.
