GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) – Authorities are investigating a deadly house fire that claimed the life of one person Monday evening on West Pines Road in Greene County.
According to officials, Greene County 911 received a report of a structure fire at a residence on West Pines Road shortly after 6 p.m. Monday.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and worked to bring the fire under control. After extinguishing the blaze, firefighters discovered a body within the debris of the home.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
Investigators with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Greene County Sheriff’s Department are continuing to examine the scene in an effort to determine what caused the fire.
At this time, officials say the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
The deceased has been transported to the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center, where an autopsy and positive identification will be conducted.
No additional information has been released.
