GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT)– A Greeneville motorcyclist has died more than a week after suffering critical injuries in a crash involving a pickup truck on Tusculum Boulevard, according to the Greeneville Police Department.
Police said Charles Harmon was seriously injured in the collision on July 7 and later died from his injuries on July 16 at Johnson City Medical Center.
According to investigators, the crash happened at approximately 4:30 p.m. when a pickup truck traveling eastbound on Tusculum Boulevard attempted to turn left into a parking lot.
Police said the truck driver failed to see Harmon’s Harley-Davidson motorcycle, which was traveling westbound, until the last moment.
As the pickup turned across traffic, Harmon crashed into the side of the vehicle.
Emergency responders transported Harmon from the scene before he was airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center for treatment of critical injuries.
Following an investigation, Greeneville police cited the pickup truck driver for failure to yield.
Officials also noted in the crash report that the district attorney’s office will be contacted regarding potential further police action through state court.
No additional information about the investigation has been released.
The crash remains under review.
