KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) – Knox County residents will have an opportunity to support local students and educators by dining at participating restaurants during the 23rd Annual Dine Out for Education on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026.
The annual event is a partnership between Knox County Schools and the Partners in Education (PIE) Foundation. Participating restaurants throughout the county will donate 10 percent of their sales on Aug. 25 to support educational initiatives across the school system.
Over the past 22 years, Dine Out for Education has become a popular community tradition, raising nearly $25,000 annually through the support of approximately 45 local restaurants and thousands of diners.
Organizers say the funds generated through the event directly support PIE programs that help fill needs often not covered by traditional school budgets.
Grants provided through Partners in Education have funded a variety of school improvements and educational opportunities, including classroom technology, professional development for teachers, playground equipment, instructional materials and other resources designed to enhance student learning.
This year, organizers are adding a new incentive aimed at encouraging student participation.
Partners in Education will award cash prizes to the top three Knox County Schools clubs, organizations or teams that participate in Dine Out for Education. Participants can scan a QR code at participating restaurants to receive credit for their school organization.
The prize structure includes:
- First Place: $1,000
- Second Place: $500
- Third Place: $250
Community members can support the fundraiser by dining in, carrying out or placing eligible orders at participating restaurants throughout the day on Aug. 25.
Organizers say the event provides a simple way for residents to make a meaningful difference in local classrooms while supporting area businesses.
A complete list of participating restaurants and additional event information is available at knoxschoolspie.org.
By choosing to eat locally during the event, residents can help provide valuable resources that benefit teachers, students and schools across Knox County.
