KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) — One of Knoxville’s most popular fall traditions is returning in a big way this year as Zoo Knoxville prepares to celebrate the 40th anniversary of BOO! at the Zoo.
The family-friendly Halloween event will run for 16 nights beginning Saturday, Oct. 3, bringing a month of festive activities, treats and entertainment to visitors of all ages.
To mark the milestone anniversary, zoo officials have added several new attractions, characters and animal experiences while continuing many of the fan-favorite traditions that have made the event a seasonal staple for four decades.
Among the biggest additions for 2026 is HallowGlow Forest, an immersive nighttime light experience designed to take guests on a glowing journey through the zoo. The attraction will feature colorful illuminated displays, whimsical characters and interactive elements throughout a forest-themed pathway.
In addition to the new attraction, guests can expect more than 1.2 million pieces of candy to be distributed during the event’s 16-night run.
Returning favorites include the popular Monster Mash Dance Party, character meet-and-greet opportunities, live entertainment performances and complimentary Halloween-themed carnival games throughout the zoo.
Visitors also will find a variety of seasonal menu items, spooky treats and specialty beverages available for purchase during the event.
BOO! at the Zoo is designed to provide a safe, family-friendly Halloween experience for children and families while supporting Zoo Knoxville’s mission of wildlife conservation and education.
The event begins Saturday, Oct. 3 and continues on select nights through Friday, Oct. 30.

Zoo officials say attendance is limited each evening and encourage guests to purchase tickets in advance online.
