MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) – Two Georgia residents died Monday following a motorcycle crash in Monroe County, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
A preliminary THP report indicates a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling northbound on Mecca Pike shortly before 12:30 p.m. when it left the roadway and entered a ditch.
Troopers said the motorcycle overturned after leaving the road and came to rest on top of both occupants.
The driver, 33-year-old Keven Durussell Jr., and passenger, 30-year-old Chelsea George, both suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
Investigators said both individuals were wearing helmets at the time of the wreck.
No other vehicles were reported to be involved in the crash, and authorities have not yet released additional details regarding what may have caused the motorcycle to leave the roadway.
The crash remains under investigation by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
