SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) – Two Sevier County high school football programs will pay tribute to one of the area’s most celebrated natives this season by honoring Dolly Parton on the field.
Gatlinburg-Pittman High School and Sevier County High School announced on social media that every player on their football teams will wear a special decal on the back of their helmets recognizing Parton’s legacy and contributions to the community.
The commemorative sticker features a guitar pick design that includes Dolly Parton’s signature along with a butterfly, a symbol long associated with the country music legend.
School officials said the decals are intended to celebrate Parton’s enduring influence on Sevier County and the inspiration she continues to provide to generations of local residents.
Parton, who was born and raised in Sevier County, graduated from Sevier County High School in 1964 before launching her legendary music and entertainment career. Despite achieving international fame, she has maintained deep ties to her hometown through charitable efforts, educational programs and economic investments across the region.
Over the years, Parton has become known not only for her success in music and entertainment but also for initiatives such as the Imagination Library, which has provided millions of books to children around the world, and her continued support of East Tennessee communities.
The helmet stickers will give players from both schools an opportunity to carry a symbol of local pride onto the field throughout the season while recognizing one of Sevier County’s most influential figures.
