MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) — Four teenagers, including three juveniles, are facing multiple attempted murder charges following a lengthy investigation into a series of shootings in Hamblen County.
According to court records obtained by WVLT News, the charges stem from a shooting incident that occurred on May 25, 2025, on Peace Drive in Morristown.
Deputies with the Hamblen County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 2:15 a.m. A resident told investigators that multiple rounds struck a home on Peace Drive and that several people carrying flashlights were seen running through a nearby field shortly after the shooting.
A second resident who lives across the street on Tazewell Circle reported that his home was also hit by gunfire. According to court records, when the resident walked outside to investigate, the suspects allegedly fired shots in his direction.
Investigators determined that the Peace Drive residence was struck by seven bullets, while a vehicle parked nearby was hit by one round. Deputies also located two bullet impacts at the Tazewell Circle home, along with multiple spent shell casings in a nearby field.
During the investigation, detectives discovered similarities between this case and other shootings reported in Hamblen County during the same time period.
Authorities ultimately identified five juvenile suspects and executed search warrants at four residences.
The following defendants were arrested and charged with five counts of attempted second-degree murder:
- Zackary Helton, 18
- Jose Roman-Jimenez, 17
- Roberto Francisco, 17
- Jose Castillo, 17
Court officials say all four defendants are scheduled to enter pleas on Wednesday in Hamblen County Criminal Court.
The investigation remains ongoing.
