Kent Stephens began his radio career at a Harriman gospel music station at age thirteen. He attended Roane County High School and graduated from The University of Tennessee with a degree in Broadcasting at the College of Communications. In addition, he was a Student Trainer for the Vol Football team under head coach Johnny Majors, head trainer Tim Kerin and assistant trainer Mike Rollo.

Kent began working at WIVK during his senior year at UT in 1988. He continued until the mid-1990’s, when he relocated to New York City. For the next eight years, Kent consulted radio station sellers and programmers in The Big Apple and throughout New England.  He came home to WIVK in 2003 and resides in Kingston.

Kent is active in the East Tennessee recovery community.  He volunteers weekly at Cornerstone of Recovery as a speaker to families and facilitator/mentor to clients in treatment for alcoholism and drug addiction.

Kent is an active member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church, as well as a member of the board of directors of Hope of East Tennessee in Oak Ridge. He was a four term president of the Cornerstone of Recovery Alumni Association.
