Deadly Fire Under Investigation in Sevier County

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (Courtesy of WVLT) – Officials with Sevier County Fire and Rescue said one person has died in a house fire in Sevier County.

Fire crews were called to the home in the 600 block of Pee Dee Drive just after 3:00 p.m. Thursday.

Sevier County 911 said they received a call reporting a house that was on fire just outside the southern city limits of Pigeon Forge.

Officials said that the Pigeon Forge Fire Department was the initial responding agency and arrived to find the home with heavy fire showing from the second floor.

One occupant of the home was unaccounted for, so fire crews initiated an interior fire attack and conducted a search of the home, officials said.

Fire officials said that due to hazardous conditions, crews were unable to gain immediate access to the second floor.

The occupant of the was later located and confirmed dead, officials said.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Sevier County Sheriff’s Office and Sevier County Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the cause of the fire.

The victim was transported to the Knox County Regional Forensic Center by the Sevier County Medical Examiner’s Office for identification.
