An investigation by the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office found nearly $25,000 in questionable transactions by the Oak Ridge High School Navy JROTC Booster Club.
The state says between July 2020 and April 2022 former booster club officials made 22 questionable withdraws. They took out nearly $22,000 in cash for the non-profit.
School officials say the cash was for expenses like a military ball, a back to school party and field trips but the booster club did not have documents supporting those claims.
In addition, a former treasurer wrote two checks to himself for over $2,500 to reimburse himself without the proper documents.
The state says school officials say they’re going to fix this.
