Former Principal Facing DUI Charges

Former Clinton High School Principal Dan Jenkins is facing several charges related to driving under the influence.

Jenkins resigned his position in April 2024 as the Anderson County school system worked its way through an investigation into almost 1,500 grade changes at the high school during his tenure.

According to the Clinton Police Department, Jenkins was driving on Clinch Avenue on May 31 when he crossed the center line and hit another car head-on.

The investigation revealed he was under the influence, distracted by a cell phone and had an open container of alcohol in the car at the time of the crash.

On Thursday, Jenkins was indicted on charges of driving under the influence, violating Tennessee’s open container law, using his cell phone while driving and reckless endangerment.

Jenkins surrendered himself and was booked and released.
