KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A Knoxville man is facing charges after he threatened a teen driver with a knife during a road rage incident, according to court documents obtained by WVLT News.
Samuel Shea Gibson is the suspect in the case. According to a police incident report, it happened at S. Peters Road and Ebeneezer Road in Knoxville on April 28.
In the report, the responding officer says he spoke with the victim and a witness, who both gave the same story. They said Gibson pulled in front of the teen at the traffic signal, got out of the car and threatened to slash the victim’s tires with a knife, which he was carrying.
“The suspect attempted to stab the rear driver-side tire but was unsuccessful,” the report said. “The suspect instead struck the rear bumper near the tire, causing damage.”
The officer was able to take a look at Gibson in a photo taken by the witness. Gibson was wearing a Zips Car Wash polo, the report said, so a nearby location was the officer’s next stop. There, the officer got Gibson’s name from a fellow employee, and he made a third trip, the report said. This time it was to Gibson’s home.
There, the officer took Gibson into custody. In the report, the officer said Gibson admitted to the crime in full.
Gibson was charged with aggravated assault and vandalism.
