David G. Jolley, United States Marshal for the Eastern District of Tennessee, announces the arrest of fugitive Carlos Rodriguez. Rodriguez, age 22, was wanted out of Tulsa, Oklahoma for one count of assault and battery by strangulation, two counts of domestic assault, and one count of first-degree burglary.
The charges stemmed from a March 24, 2026, incident. Rodriguez fled Oklahoma afterwards to avoid arrest. Rodriguez also had active arrest warrants out of Maryville, TN for an unrelated domestic abuse charge.
On May 4, 2026, the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Knoxville office received information from the USMS Northern District of Oklahoma might be in the Knoxville area.
Eastern Tennessee USMS Smoky Mountains Task Force (SMFTF) members went to work on the information and were able to locate Rodriguez this morning (May 5) at an apartment on Wales Avenue in Maryville and placed him under arrest
without incident. Rodriguez had been working as a construction day laborer in Knoxville.
Rodriguez, from Mexico and in the U.S. illegally, was transported to the Blount County Jail where he will await extradition to Oklahoma. Due to his illegal status, ICE placed a hold on Rodriguez as well.
The Eastern District of Tennessee United States Marshals Service (USMS) Smoky Mountains Fugitive Task Force team that made the arrests included Deputy U.S. Marshals out of the Knoxville, TN office and SMFTF officers from the Anderson and Blount County Sheriff’s Department. ICE also assisted with the arrest.
