Anderson County, TN (WOKI / WVLT) – A wanted man in Anderson County is facing additional charges after a strange attempt to avoid arrest Tuesday.
According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were trying to serve Daniel Poore with outstanding warrants for contempt of court, criminal conspiracy and burglary when he fled from his driveway.
Authorities say the chase began near Hillcrest Road and Sulphur Springs Road and continued through Dutch Valley Road and Frost Bottom Road. During the pursuit, the Oliver Springs Police Department assisted by deploying spike strips to stop Poore’s vehicle.
Investigators say Poore swerved to avoid the spikes, drove off the roadway and into a creek. He then got out of the vehicle and laid down in the water in an apparent attempt to evade capture.
Deputies quickly apprehended Poore and took him into custody without further incident. Officials say he could not outrun—or outswim—the warrants.
Poore was arrested on the outstanding charges and now faces additional charges related to the pursuit.
