KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WOKI) – Firefighters responded to a commercial structure fire Tuesday night after a passerby spotted smoke coming from a building housing multiple businesses.
According to fire officials, Knox County Communications District received a call at approximately 10:20 p.m. reporting a building fire.
When the first fire crews arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the structure and immediately began an interior attack.
Firefighters were able to quickly bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading throughout the building. As of 11:15 p.m., crews remained on scene conducting overhaul operations to ensure all remaining hot spots were extinguished.
Officials said the building is a single-story brick structure containing three separate businesses. The fire was successfully confined to one of the businesses.
The affected business suffered significant fire, smoke and water damage, while the two neighboring businesses experienced some smoke damage.
The business where the fire originated was closed at the time, and no occupants were inside the building when the blaze started.
No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported.
Fire investigators remained at the scene Tuesday night and are working to determine the cause of the fire.
