Oak Ridge, TN (WOKI) – A 19-year-old Oak Ridge woman has died following a single-vehicle traffic crash Monday afternoon in the Briarcliff neighborhood, according to the Oak Ridge Police Department.
Officers and emergency responders were called to the intersection of Briarcliff Avenue and Capital Circle shortly after 1 p.m. Monday following reports of a serious crash.
Police identified the victim as Lana Haese, 19, of Oak Ridge. She was transported from the scene to Methodist Medical Center, where authorities say she later died from her injuries.
The roadway was closed for several hours as Oak Ridge police officers and emergency crews worked at the scene and conducted an initial investigation into the crash.
Investigators have not released details about what led to the incident, and no other vehicles were reported to have been involved. Authorities have not indicated whether speed, impairment, a medical emergency or other factors may have contributed to the crash.
The Oak Ridge Police Department said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
No additional information has been released at this time as detectives continue to gather evidence and determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
