BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) – The Blount County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help identifying a driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that injured a bicyclist Wednesday morning near Melrose Station.
According to authorities, the crash happened around 9 a.m. on Old Walland Highway near Melrose Station when a vehicle struck a woman riding a bicycle and then left the scene.
The victim, a 56-year-old woman, was transported to a local hospital for treatment following the collision. Deputies said she has since been released from the hospital.
Investigators are now working to locate the vehicle involved in the crash.
Suspect Vehicle Description
The victim told deputies she believes the vehicle that struck her was:
- An older-model Nissan
- Silver or dark gray in color
- Possibly showing front-end damage
- Possibly showing damage along the right side of the vehicle
Authorities have not released additional details about the driver.
Public Asked to Help
The sheriff’s office is urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who may have information about the suspected vehicle to come forward.
Investigators say tips from the public could be critical in identifying the driver and determining the circumstances surrounding the crash.
