SEVIER CO., Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) – A 52-year-old Kodak man is facing multiple attempted murder charges after authorities say he shot a man during an early morning incident in Sevier County.
According to the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 1:15 a.m. on September 3 at a residence on Turner Way in Kodak.
When deputies arrived at 4432 Turner Way, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to UT Medical Center, where authorities said he received medical treatment in time to survive his injuries.
Investigators said a woman was also present when the shooting occurred, but she was not injured.
Following an investigation, deputies identified Lawrence M. Ryan, 52, as the suspect. Authorities later located Ryan during a traffic stop and took him into custody without incident.
Ryan has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and is being held at the Sevier County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
Court records show Ryan is scheduled to appear before a judge on October 9 in Sevier County General Sessions Court.
Sheriff’s officials said the investigation remains active and additional information could be released as the case moves forward.
