KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI /WVLT) – A 58-year-old convicted felon has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at an East Knoxville Dollar General, according to the Knoxville Police Department.
Jeffery Walker, 58, of Knoxville, was taken into custody Tuesday evening by officers assigned to the Knoxville Police Department’s Community Engagement Response Team (CERT).
Walker was wanted on charges of aggravated robbery, convicted felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a weapon during the commission of a dangerous felony.
According to KPD, the robbery occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, at the Dollar General located at 4112 Asheville Highway.
Investigators with the Violent Crimes Unit determined that Walker allegedly entered the store, pulled out a firearm and pointed it directly at an employee while demanding money from the register.
Police said Walker then forcibly ripped the cash register drawer from a counter shelf before fleeing the scene.
Following an investigation involving Violent Crimes Unit detectives and Field Operations officers, CERT officers located Walker at a residence on Pocahontas Drive on Tuesday evening.
Authorities said Walker was taken into custody without incident as he was leaving the home.
Walker was transported to and booked into the Knox County Detention Facility.
The charges remain allegations, and Walker is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
