KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT) – A man is facing charges following a crash involving a school bus in Knox County on Wednesday morning.
According to Knox County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Justin Pratt, deputies responded to a collision on Tazewell Pike after a driver pulled out from Graceland Road and struck a school bus.
Investigators said the driver told deputies his vehicle’s window was fogged up, preventing him from seeing the oncoming bus before entering the roadway.
At the time of the crash, 23 students were riding on the bus. Authorities said none of the students, the bus driver or the occupants of the other vehicle were injured.
Deputies determined the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs based on the preliminary investigation. However, officials said he was taken into custody and charged with driving on a revoked license related to a previous DUI offense.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, and students were evaluated following the collision. Authorities confirmed that no medical treatment was needed.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Officials are reminding drivers to ensure their vehicles are safe to operate and that windows are properly cleared before traveling, particularly during cooler morning conditions when visibility can be affected by condensation.
