Zoo Knoxville to Unveil New Habitat, Two White Rhinos

Knoxville, TN (WOKI) Zoo Knoxville announcing Thursday the public debut of its newest additions, two Southern White Rhinos, Mylo and Ranger.

The pair will start greeting zoo guests in their newly-constructed habitat, Rhino Reserve, on Memorial Day weekend with an official launch set for Friday, May 23.

“We’re so excited to welcome Mylo and Ranger and continue Zoo Knoxville’s legacy with Southern White Rhinos,” said Zoo Knoxville President and CEO Bill Street. “This is an amazing opportunity to share the story of these incredible animal ambassadors with our guests and inspire a deeper connection to wildlife and conservation.”

The zoo has a long history caring for white rhinos, the largest species of rhino in the world.

Mylo and Ranger come to Knoxville as part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Species Survival Plan, a program aimed at preserving animal populations.
