Oak Ridge, Tennessee (WOKI) – A shooting has occurred in the early morning (Sunday) hours at a block
party in the Scarboro neighborhood around S. Benedict Avenue in Oak Ridge.
A number of people have been injured and are being treated at area hospitals.
The crime scene is very large. It is estimated that the number of people at the event were
in the hundreds. Many of the attendees have apparently came from Knoxville.
In consultation with the Oak Ridge Police Department Command Staff, District Attorney

Department, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, Oak Ridge Fire Department, the 7th Judicial
Crime Task Force (CTF), the District Attorney General’s Office and Anderson County
Emergency Medical Services are all participating in the investigation or emergency response.
District Attorney General Dave Clark provided a statement that “this is an active crime
scene and we are at the very beginning of the investigative process.
Everyone is working together to treat the injured and gather evidence of what happened and what persons may be
responsible. Our thoughts and prayers are also with those that have been injured and their
families. The community should be aware that police have control of the crime scene, and I have
great confidence in the team working on this investigation.”
