Alcoa, TN (WOKI / WVLT) – The City of Alcoa has requested help from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation following the discovery of purchasing irregularities during an internal review.
City officials said the findings prompted a deeper look into financial activity, which led to the termination of a city employee. The matter has since been referred to the TBI, the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office and the District Attorney’s Office.
According to the TBI, special agents are now investigating allegations of theft tied to the former employee. The investigation was launched at the request of 5th Judicial District Attorney General Ryan Desmond.
Authorities say the case remains active and ongoing. No additional details have been released at this time.
