Grainger County, TN – (WOKI / WVLT) – A Grainger County school board member is facing new charges as a criminal case against him continues to expand.
According to court records, Steven Blanken has been indicted on three additional counts, including one count of engaging a minor in sexual activity and two counts of possessing child sexual abuse material.
These charges come after Blanken was previously indicted in connection with alleged incidents reported between December 2025 and February of this year.
Following the initial allegations, Grainger County school officials barred Blanken from school property and began reviewing legal options. At the time, Director of Schools Mark Briscoe contacted the district attorney, urging swift action if Blanken is convicted of the charges.
The case remains ongoing as it moves through the court system.
