NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WOKI / WVLT)— On National Voter Registration Day, Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett is encouraging eligible residents to register to vote and make sure their information is up to date before this fall’s State and Federal General Election.
Hargett said National Voter Registration Day serves as an important reminder for Tennesseans who have not yet registered to participate in the election process.
“It has never been easier to register to vote or to cast a ballot in Tennessee,” Hargett said. “If you have not already registered, National Voter Registration Day is a great opportunity to do so.”
The voter registration deadline for the Nov. 3, 2026 State and Federal General Election is 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 5.
State election officials encourage voters to use the free GoVoteTN app or visit GoVoteTN.gov to register, update voter information, or confirm their registration status.
In addition to verifying registration, officials are urging voters to familiarize themselves with the three proposed constitutional amendments that will appear on the November ballot.
Each amendment will be presented as a separate yes-or-no question for voters to consider. Summaries of the proposed amendments have been prepared by the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office to help voters better understand the issues before Election Day.
Early voting for the Nov. 3 election will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 14, and continue through Thursday, Oct. 29.
Election officials recommend that voters review ballot information and registration status well in advance of Election Day to avoid potential issues and ensure they are prepared to cast their ballots.
