Ingrid Andress will follow up her debut No. 1 single, “More Hearts Than Mine,” with the release of “The Stranger.”

Penned by Ingrid and Ryan Lafferty, “The Stranger” will impact country radio on June 6. The tune is one of eight tracks featured on Ingrid’s debut album, Lady Like, which dropped on March 27.

“‘The Stranger’ is about how love is actually really hard when it’s real,” says Ingrid. “I feel like Disney movies trick us into believing that love is this really easy thing, and it’s not, and you have to work at it, and sometimes you forget why you’re in love with somebody.”

Scotty McCreery Scores 5th Top 10 Hit With “In Between”

Scotty McCreery’s current single, “In Between,” is the little engine that could.

After 56 weeks, the tune is now No. 10 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. Only Travis Denning’s “After a Few” needed more weeks (57) to break into the Top 10.

Penned by Scotty, Frank Rogers, Jessi Alexander and Jonathan Singleton, “In Between” follows Scotty’s previous No. 1 singles “Five More Minutes” and “This Is It.” All three songs are from Scotty’s 2018 album, Seasons Change.

“‘In Between’ is a song that kinda talks about where I was at in life when I was writing it,” says Scotty to NCD. “I feel like a lot of folks can relate to it.”

“In Between” marks Scotty’s fifth career Top 10 hit.

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s duet, “Nobody But You,” is No. 1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart for the second consecutive week. The single is Blake’s 27th No. 1 hit on the country chart, while Gwen notched her first No. 1 on the country chart after more than 25 years as a star—both as a solo artist and fronting No Doubt—on the pop charts.

Penned by Ross Copperman, Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne and Tommy Lee James, “Nobody But You” is one of four new tracks on Blake’s 2019 album, Fully Loaded: God’s Country.

“I’m honored to know that this song is as important to fans as it is to Gwen and me,” said Blake. “It’s so wild to me every single time one of my songs goes to number one, and I know how special it is to hold that spot for more than one week when there are other incredible and important songs on the chart. I’d like to again thank Shane McAnally, Ross Copperman, Josh Osborne and Tommy Lee James for writing this song and Gwen for helping me make it come to life.”

The Hot Country Knights made a virtual appearance alongside Travis Tritt to perform “Pick Her Up” on Good Morning America on May 4.

The Hot Country Knights—fronted by an incognito Dierks Bentley—are comprised of Dierks’ road band performing ’90s-esque country tunes while donning aliases, mullet wigs and over-the-top attire from the era. The Hot Country Knights feature lead singer Douglas “Doug” Douglason, lead bass player Trevor Travis, lead guitarist Marty Ray “Rayro” Roburn, fiddle player Terotej “Terry” Dvoraczekynski, steel guitarist Barry Van Ricky and percussionist Monte Montgomery.

Penned by Dierks, Brett Beavers and Jim Beavers, “Pick Her Up” features vocals from Travis Tritt on the official release, which is included on the Knights’ debut album, The K Is Silent.

“Travis Tritt is our longtime spirit animal,” says HCK frontman Doug Douglason.

Trace Adkins to Perform During “National Memorial Day Concert” on PBS

Trace Adkins will perform during the National Memorial Day Concert airing on PBS on Sunday, May 24, at 7 p.m. CT.

The concert, which is usually filmed from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., will instead feature performances and tributes filmed throughout the country in accordance with physical distancing guidelines due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hosted by Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise, the 90-minute special will include performances and appearances by General Colin L. Powell, Cynthia Erivo, Renée Fleming, CeCe Winans, Kelli O’Hara, Christopher Jackson, Mary McCormack, members of the National Symphony Orchestra and more. In addition to honoring troops, veterans, wounded warriors and fallen service members, the National Memorial Day Concert will celebrate the heroes on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The concert also will stream on Facebook, YouTube and pbs.org.

Not Being Able to Tour Right Now Makes Kenny Chesney “Feel a Little Strange and a Little Lost”

Kenny Chesney planned to kick off his 2020 Chillaxification Tour on April 18 in Arlington, Texas. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 11 dates on the tour—from April 18 to May 28—were scrapped.

The pandemic, however, didn’t stop Kenny from dropping his 19th studio album, Here and Now, on May 1.

Now, Kenny is looking forward to rebooting his Chillaxification Tour, which is tentatively slated to kick off on May 30 in Pittsburgh. As Kenny told Kix Brooks of American Country Countdown, he and his road family “feel a little strange and a little lost” right now.

“I truly do miss [touring],” says Kenny. “You know, this is the time of year where we’re all real busy, and there’s a great new energy of starting another tour, and going down the highway with all of your road family, and seeing your fans that care about this music. Right now, we’ve been forced to not do that, and it feels strange. I think the fans—and I think I speak for my whole road family when I say, ‘We feel a little lost.’ But, we’re cautiously optimistic . . . but, I’m not gonna lie to you, we all feel a little strange and a little lost because this is the time of year where we get to celebrate music and celebrate our love for one another, and that’s how we look at it, and we don’t get to do that right now.”

Radio Cares’ “Feeding America Emergency Radiothon” Raises More Than $500,000

Radio Cares’ Feeding America Emergency Radiothon on April 30 raised more than $500,000 to help feed Americans facing hunger issues.

More than 10,000 radio stations—including numerous Cumulus Media and Westwood One stations—aired the Feeding America Emergency Radiothon, which drove donations to Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund and its 200 local member food banks. The all-day radiothon featured artists, radio personalities and special guests sharing stories of hope and encouraging donations to feed the hungry.

Country artists Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Lindsay Ell, RaeLynn, Mitchell Tenpenny, Runaway June, Devin Dawson, Chris Lane, Gabby Barrett, Locash, Hardy, Jameson Rogers and more took part in the radiothon, as well as artists from across all genres of music, including Weezer, Bush, Meghan Trainor, Linkin Park, Incubus, Cage the Elephant and more.

“Listeners answered the call from their favorite stations, large and small, unified by the cause of American hunger,” says Brian Philips, EVP, content and audience at Cumulus Media/Westwood One. “Our listeners represent the most generous cross-section of America. There exists a bond among them that no crisis can break. Cumulus is always proud when what we do moves people.”

Feeding America, the largest hunger relief organization in the United States, established the COVID-19 Response Fund on March 13. Since then, Feeding America has distributed $112.4 million and more than 94 million pounds of food to food banks across the country, helping provide nearly 79 million meals to people facing hunger.

Dwight Yoakam and Emily Joyce were married in March just prior to the quarantine in a private ceremony at St Monica Catholic Church in Santa Monica, CA. At a time when there is so much uncertainty in the world, there are still happy moments. In the face of shutdowns and social-distancing requirements, love prevailed, and the less than 10 attendees were seated at least six feet from one another. The happy couple have been engaged for several years and have been dating since 2010. This belated announcement was withheld out of respect to so many people affected by and on the front lines of this pandemic.

In his 30-plus-year career, Dwight has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide, earned 21 Grammy nominations and charted five Billboard No. 1 albums. Gabby Barrett will release her debut album, Goldmine, on June 19. Buoyed by No. 1 lead single, “I Hope,” which topped the Billboard Country Airplay chart in April, Goldmine features 13 songs.

Gabby co-penned 12 songs on the upcoming album with a bevy of top songwriters, including Josh Osborne, Emily Weisband, Ross Copperman, Josh Kear, Jon Nite and more. The album’s title track—the only song Gabby didn’t write—was penned by Nicolle Galyon, Caitlyn Smith and Liz Rose.
