Garth Brooks & Trisha Yearwood to Perform on Saturday’s Grand Ole Opry Broadcast on May 2

Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood will perform on the Grand Ole Opry on May 2.

Garth and Trisha will take the stage for the 4,922nd consecutive Saturday night show, which will air at 7 p.m. CT on 650 AM WSM and be broadcast live on Circle Television, as well as streamed on Circle’s Facebook and YouTube.

The longtime Opry members announced the news on April 27 via Garth’s Inside Studio G series on Facebook Live.

“During this time, they’ve been just having guys show up and do their thing,” says Garth. “So, me and Miss Yearwood—we’re going to be doing the Opry. And Miss Yearwood says, ‘What are you going to do?’ And I said, ‘What, are you kidding me? I’m going to do some of the greatest country music on the planet for me.’ So, I’m sure there’s probably going to be some [George] Jones, there’s going to be some Randy Travis, some [George] Strait, [Merle] Haggard. And then you know The Queen, she’s going to sing some of the greatest stuff ever and it could all be her stuff, too. This is going to be a fun Saturday night right here.”

For the past seven weeks during the current COVID-19 pandemic, the Grand Ole Opry has aired without an audience present. The Opry has aired every Saturday for more than 90 years. Opry fans are invited to contribute to the Opry’s #UNBROKEN charitable campaign, which raises money for the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund to benefit artists and musicians struggling through the pandemic.

Locash Once Headlined a Gig During a Pure Romance Convention: “That Was a Crazy, Crazy Show”

Locash Once Headlined a Gig During a Pure Romance Convention: “That Was a Crazy, Crazy Show”

Chris Lucas and Preston Brust of Locash have played their fair share of unique shows over the last 15 years, including the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, the National Christmas Tree Lighting in Washington, D.C., the infield at Talladega Superspeedway and more.

But nothing compares to the duo’s wildest concert: a headlining gig during a Pure Romance convention—yes, the company that sells adult bedroom accessories.

Chris and Preston told Kix Brooks of American Country Countdown that they have Pure Romance to thank for the “craziest” show of their career.

“This company called Pure Romance hired us one time,” says Preston. “So we walk out onstage and there’s about 5,000 women who, you know, independently sell products for Pure Romance. And, they all have toys in their bags and things, you know, they’ve been at the conference all day. So, we’re the headlining thing at the nighttime and we hit the stage, and everybody’s wound up. Everybody’s drinking, and the next thing you know, here come the toys in air. Dude it was crazy.”

“Oh, and throwing them onstage,” says Chris. “We couldn’t stop laughing. That was a crazy, crazy show.”

Locash has another Top 20 hit on their hands this week with “One Big Country Song.” The tune is currently No. 17 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart after 50 weeks.

Ingrid Andress’ Debut Single, “More Hearts Than Mine,” Reaches No. 1 on Mediabase Chart

Ingrid Andress’ debut single, “More Hearts Than Mine,” reached No. 1 on the Mediabase chart this week.

Penned by Ingrid, Sam Ellis, Derrick Southerland, “More Hearts Than Mine” is the lead single from Ingrid’s 2020 debut album, Lady Like.

“Thank you country radio for your support and for embracing me and this song so readily,” says Ingrid. “This is extra special because it’s a song about my family, who I love so much and who have been my number one fans from the beginning. I’m beyond happy it has resonated with so many people, because that’s the whole beauty of country music; real stories that are told about real people living in this country. It’s an honor to tell those stories as so many legends have done before me.”

Ingrid’s No. 1 single follows Gabby Barrett’s No. 1, “I Hope,” marking the first time on the chart that two solo female artists have scored No. 1 hits with their debut singles in back-to-back weeks.

Ingrid, who is nominated for New Artist of the Year at the upcoming ACM Awards, was named to the CRS 2020 New Faces class with Morgan Evans, Riley Green, Runaway June and Mitchell Tenpenny.
