ACM Awards to Air 2-Hour TV Special on April 5: “ACM Presents: Our Country”

ACM Awards to Air 2-Hour TV Special on April 5: “ACM Presents: Our Country”

The ACM Awards—originally scheduled for April 5 in Las Vegas—may have been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the Academy of Country Music is putting together a two-hour TV special to temporarily fill the void.

The Academy, in partnership with Dick Clark Productions, will air ACM Presents: Our Country on April 5 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. The two-hour special will feature conversations and at-home acoustic performances from many of your favorite country stars, along with clips of their favorite moments from the ACM Awards 55-year history.

Participating artists will be announced in the coming weeks. Artists will appear from their homes via video chat to share their thoughts and perform acoustic songs. Additionally, video clips from previous ACM Award broadcasts will allow viewers to reminisce with them about their favorite ACM moments.

ACM Presents: Our Country will broadcast during the time slot previously scheduled for the 55th Academy of Country Music Awards, which have been postponed to air on CBS in September at a date, time and venue to be determined.

Tyler Hubbard & Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line Commit $1,000 to 117 FGL House Employees

Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line are following the lead set by Dierks Bentley, who committed $1,000 to each of the 90 hourly employees at his Whiskey Row restaurant in downtown Nashville on March 17.

Tyler and Brian have committed $1,000 to each of the 117 employees at their FGL House restaurant in downtown Nashville.

Tyler and Brian made the announcement via Twitter on March 17, stating: “@FGLHouse would be nothing without our amazing staff. We’re so thankful for all 117 of you and we hope this helps out while the bar and restaurant is closed. We’ve been blessed by y’all and we are excited to follow@DierksBentley lead here and #giveback. Much love and gratitude.”

On March 15, 2020, at 2:45 p.m., Nashville Mayor John Cooper announced the closure of bars throughout Davidson Country—including downtown’s famed Lower Broadway district—in response to the COVID-19 public health emergency.

FGL’s four-story attraction at 122 3rd Ave South features multiple bars, the largest “Cruise” rooftop in Nashville and a basement-level lounge with a baby grand piano. The menu features fried oysters, chicken lollipops, horseradish salmon, burgers and salads, as well as craft beers and signature cocktails made with FGL’s Old Camp Whiskey.

A Guy Named Luke Stands in the Way of Luke Combs’ Chart Greatness

A Guy Named Luke Stands in the Way of Luke Combs’ Chart Greatness

Below is a self-quarantined update to an article I penned in January.

Since releasing his sophomore album, What You See Is What You Get, in November 2019, Luke Combs has prevented himself from breaking his all-time Billboard chart record.

In late October 2019, Luke’s 2017 debut album, This One’s for You, reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart for the 50th week, tying him with Shania Twain’s Come On Over for the all-time record of most weeks at No. 1.

Since dropping in November, Luke’s sophomore album has spent 14 out of 18 weeks at No. 1, including this week.

No. 2 on the chart during nine of those 14 weeks? Luke’s This One’s for You.

In theory, if Luke scrubbed his sophomore album from streaming services for one week, his debut album would get the bump to No. 1, thus breaking his tie with Shania.

Of course, that’s not going to happen. It’s just food for thought while you self-quarantine. A more likely scenario would be that This One’s for You organically reaches No. 1 again…or Shania’s legion of fans re-buy Come On Over to put her back in sole possession of the crown…or Luke and Shania live happily ever after as king and queen.

Brad Paisley’s “Free Grocery Store” in Nashville Now Serving the Area With Delivery to Elderly

Brad Paisley and wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley teamed with Belmont University and Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee to open The Store—a free grocery store in Nashville that serves individuals and families experiencing food insecurities and financial hardship.

The Store was slated to open in mid-April, but due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and recent tornado devastation in Middle Tennessee, the grocery store is now serving area residents.

Brad noted via Instagram on March 17 that The Store is offering delivery to elderly residents in the area: “So, in light of changing times, @thestore_nashville is mobilizing delivery of a week’s groceries to our elderly neighbors in Edgehill and Berry Hill on Wednesday’s/Thursdays. If anyone needs to be included on this list, we urge them to contact [email protected]. Also We will continue to operate regular hours 1-7 Th/F 11-5 Sat for walk ins but please bring ID and either proof of income, proof of residence, or statement of unemployment for our recently unemployed neighbors.”

The Store operates as a year-round free grocery store that allows people to shop for their basic needs. Clients will be given the opportunity to come to The Store for a one-year period. There is no charge to those referred or to the people and agencies that send them. They may shop for food to supplement their income during times of crisis and as they work toward self-sufficiency.

Brad and Kimberly were inspired to get involved in the Nashville project after volunteering at a similar organization, Unity Shoppe, in Santa Barbara, Calif.

The Store is located at 2005 12th Ave. S.
