Miranda Lambert Drops High-Speed Bonus Track, “Locomotive” [Listen]

In addition to releasing the lead single, “It All Comes Out in the Wash,” from her upcoming seventh studio album on July 18, Miranda Lambert dropped a driving new bonus track, “Locomotive.”

Miranda co-penned the new track, which she describes as “total country punk-rock,” with Ashley Monroe and K.S. Rhodes. Miranda debuted the high-speed song at Nashville’s CMA Fest in June.

Miranda Lambert Releases New Single, “It All Comes Out in the Wash” [Listen]

Miranda Lambert dropped her first single in more than 15 months with the release of “It All Comes Out in the Wash” on July 18.

The new tune, which was co-penned by Miranda, Lori McKenna, Liz Rose and Hillary Lindsey, is expected to serve as the lead single from Miranda’s upcoming seventh studio album.

“I wrote ‘It All Comes Out in the Wash’ with the Love Junkies, some of my favorite people to write with—Lori McKenna, Liz Rose and Hillary Lindsey,” says Miranda. “And I had the title for a while written down in my phone. We like to talk about girly things and things going on in life when we write together, so I feel like the song is just kind of a mix of scenarios that all of us have either been a part of or seen or, ya know, something that’s happened in all of our lives, and realizing that when you have something in your life that’s a little unclean at times or hurtful or a moment that you wish would pass, it does all pass and it all comes out in the wash. That’s something that all of our moms would say to us when we were little—let’s not worry about a stain. I’m really proud of it. It’s a really fun song.”

“I’ve been coaching since, I don’t know my math’s not very good, since 1997. I’m as excited about this football team as any I’ve ever been around. It’s not about how many games we’re going to win or anything like that. I know that’s how you’re measured, but it’s just about being around people and how they go to work.”

DALLAS – Tennessee football rising junior running back Ty Chandler was named to the 2019 Doak Walker Award preseason candidate list on Wednesday by the PwC SMU Athletic Forum. The award is presented annually to the nation’s top college running back.

Chandler has proven to be one of the SEC’s most explosive and versatile running backs over his two seasons on Rocky Top.

The Nashville, Tenn., native led the Vols with 630 rushing yards on 115 carries (5.5 ypc) in 2018, while hauling in 19 receptions for 183 yards. He led UT with seven total touchdowns with four coming on the ground and three scoring grabs.

He became the first Vol since 2006 with two runs of 75 yards or more. Chandler also permanently etched his name in the Tennessee record books as the first Vol running back to record a touchdown reception in three consecutive games. He ran for a career-high 158 yards against UTEP early in the season and closed out the fall with 80 or more yards rushing in the final three games.

Chandler rushed for 305 yards and two touchdowns as a freshman in 2018 and also ranked fourth in the SEC with a 26.1 kickoff return average. He had a 91-yard kickoff return touchdown versus Indiana State and rushed for 120 yards at Kentucky.

Tim McGraw Authors New Fitness Book, “Grit & Grace”

Tim McGraw Authors New Fitness Book, “Grit & Grace”

Tim McGraw is showing no signs of writer’s block.

After collaborating with Jon Meacham to pen Songs of America: Patriotism, Protest and the Music That Made a Nation, Tim has authored a new fitness book, Grit & Grace: Train the Mind, Train the Body, Own Your Life.

According to the press release, the new lifestyle book “melds Tim’s personal fitness transformation story with practical advice to inspire healthy changes in readers’ lives.” The new book, which goes on sale on Nov. 5, is available for pre-sale now.

“Really excited to share the cover of my new book #GritandGrace,” said Tim, in part, via Twitter.

Grit & Grace‘s official synopsis is below.

From Grammy-Award winning music superstar and actor Tim McGraw comes a one-of-a kind lifestyle book that melds his personal fitness transformation story with practical advice to inspire healthy changes in readers’ lives.

Tim McGraw is as well-known for his unparalleled accomplishments in the entertainment industry as he is for his boundless energy—he is the embodiment of vitality and success. But only a decade ago, he found himself struggling with his health. The demands of his meteoric career and life on the road had taken a toll. McGraw came to a crossroads where knew that unless he made his physical health a priority, he would put his personal happiness and professional success at risk. In Grit & Grace, McGraw shares his transformation story along with encouragement, practical advice and mental approach together with exercise tips to help readers become healthy, strong and fit in mind and body.

For the first time, McGraw will share the details of the mental and physical routine that got him in the best shape of his life. He suggests that there is no magic formula to getting stronger and healthier: it is about making a commitment to do and be better, and holding yourself accountable each day. McGraw didn’t follow a playbook or have a squad of trainers overseeing his every step. He describes his way of getting into shape as more “maverick”—tuning into a vision of what you personally want to achieve, staying focused, and putting in the work.

McGraw says his physical transformation has ignited a whole-life transformation. “My mind is clearer, my sense of purpose is sharper, and my relationships are deeper. Consistent physical exercise helps me bring focus to my life and to the people who mean the most to me.” In Grit & Grace, McGraw makes this transformation accessible to anyone, sharing with readers the physical and mental tools they can use to create the life they deserve.

NBA Summer League Recap

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The completion of the 2019 NBA Summer League this week saw positive contributions from five VFLs. And by the time summer action concluded, four former Vols signed rookie contracts with their respective NBA teams.

Take a look at how all five players fared in the 2019 edition of the Association’s Summer League.

Kyle Alexander | Miami Heat
8 GP, 2 GS, 4.6 PPG, 15.4 MPG, .438 FG% (14-32), 6.25 RPG, 0.0 APG, 0.5 SPG, 1.4 BPG, +23 +/-

In the Miami Heat’s final contest of the 2019 Summer League, Kyle Alexander earned his second start of the competition in a quarterfinal game against the New Orleans Pelicans Saturday night. Alexander was good for 29 minutes, six points and team-highs in both rebounds (11) and blocks (3) as the Heat fell in heartbreaking fashion, 101-100 in overtime.

Alexander signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Heat and will take part in Miami’s training camp.

Jordan Bone | Detroit Pistons
3 GP, 1 GS, 12.3 PPG, 20.0 MPG, .414 FG% (12-29), 3.3 RPG, 2.3 APG, 1.3 SPG, -2 +/-

In the Detroit Pistons’ 105-85 quarterfinal loss to the Brooklyn Nets Saturday night, point guard Jordan Bone earned his first start of the summer campaign. He played 25 minutes, tallying 18 points on 50 percent shooting from the field (6-12) and a near perfect ledger from the free-throw line (6-7), along with four rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block.

Bone signed a two-way contract with Detroit and its G-League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Drive.

Admiral Schofield | Washington Wizards
5 GP, 1 GS, 6.8 PPG, 18.0 MPG, .385 FG% (10-26), 3.2 RPG, 0.8 APG, 0.2 BPG, -4 +/-

In Washington’s consolation matchup with the New York Knicks, Admiral Schofield was good for six minutes off the bench, totaling two points, one rebound and an assist in the Wizards’ 103-87 loss.

The highlight of Schofield’s summer was signing a three-year rookie contract with Washington on Friday.

Jarnell Stokes | Portland Trail Blazers
5 GP, 5 GS, 10.6 PPG, 20.6 MPG, .656 FG% (21-32), 6.4 RPG, 1.8 APG, 0.8 BPG, -4 +/-

Jarnell Stokes started in all five summer contests for the Portland Trail Blazers. In his fifth start, in the Trail Blazers’ consolation game against the Milwaukee Bucks, Stokes had his highest scoring output of the summer, pouring in 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field and draining both his attempts from 3-point range. Stokes added four rebounds to help lead Portland to a 99-84 victory.

Grant Williams | Boston Celtics
5 GP, 3 GS, 13.0 PPG, 24.2 MPG, .467 FG% (21-45), .368 3FG% (7-19), 6.0 RPG, 1.8 APG, 1.0 SPG, 0.6 BPG +/- +74

In the Boston Celtics’ quarterfinal defeat to the Memphis Grizzlies (94-88) on Saturday night, Grant Williams turned in a solid 30 minutes of action, scoring 11 points, pulling in three rebounds and dishing off two assists.

Williams closed the summer with the best +/- of any VFL with an impressive +74 over five games, along with a 37 percent shooting mark from behind the 3-point arc.
