Since making his way to Music City more than 10 years ago, Tennessee native Brinley Addington has been pounding the musical pavement. The traditionally-steeped troubadour co-penned Tyler Farr’s recent single, “I Should Go to Church Sometime,” and has secured opening gigs for a number of artists, including Chris Young, Jon Pardi, Thomas Rhett and more. Brinley dropped his five-song EP, Songs From a Bar, in 2018, and recently released new single, “Come Back.”

How did you get started in music?

The first time I sang in front of a crowd was in a talent show in the fourth grade, but I feel like I really got started by singing in church when I was 12 years old.

At what age did you realize you wanted to make music your career?

I’ve always loved music, but when I was about nine years old, I became obsessed with music. I had no idea where to even start, but that’s when I started dreaming.

Who are some of musical influences?

Alan Jackson, George Strait, James Taylor, Randy Travis and Vince Gill.

What three words describe you as a musician?

Honest, heartfelt, country.

What would you say is unique about your sound?

It’s a reflection of who I am, where I’m from and what I listen to.

What does your new single, “Come Back,” say about you?

Since it was inspired by something I was living at the time, I feel like it’s spot-on about what I was going through and how I felt. I really tried to be honest about where I was and let it come through in the song.

What was the first concert you attended?

I was really little so I don’t remember much, but it was Randy Travis and Alan Jackson. Pretty great one to get started with.

What’s the last song you heard that blew you away?

Cole Swindell’s “Break Up in the End.” I haven’t been hit that hard by a song in a while.

Where is the craziest place you’ve performed?

I got asked to play a song on an airplane one time. There may have been a crazier place I’m forgetting, but that was definitely the most awkward.

What’s the first thing you do after a show?

Drink a beer.

What’s your favorite song to cover?

“Time Marches On” by Tracy Lawrence.

What family member or friend has been the most supportive of your musical career?

My mom. She’s been there for me and encouraged me every step of the way in my career and my personal life. This business can be hard at times, and I don’t think I’d be where I am if she hadn’t been in my corner on those hard days.

Here’s an updated list of University of Tennessee players in the National Football League after the last 21 rookie minicamps were completed.

Now all 32 teams have held rookie minicamps. Rosters are still fluid with teams announcing the signing of undrafted free agents and tryout players at their own pace. NFL rosters can be kept at up to 90 players until final preseason cuts August 31, 2019.

The Grand Ole Opry stage announced its lineup for the 2019 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival: Old Crow Medicine Show, Ricky Skaggs, Riders in the Sky, Steve Earle, Morgan Evans, Ashley Monroe, Molly Tuttle and Wendy Moten. A broadcast of the performances will air live via opry.com on June 13.

Listen to Keith Urban Reminisce About Lost Love in New Single, “We Were”

Listen to Keith Urban Reminisce About Lost Love in New Single, “We Were”

Keith Urban has returned to country radio airwaves with the release of his new single, “We Were.”

Penned by Eric Church, Jeff Hyde and Ryan Tyndell, the new tune reminisces about lost teenage love with lyrics like “We were a couple of line steppers who just couldn’t wait to step over the line / Never thinkin’ we wouldn’t last, I was your first and you were mine.”

“When I first heard ‘We Were,’ I not only heard it, but I saw it,” says Keith. “It made me feel something. I like the idea that life just happens. At some point, in the moment or not, you just gotta go with it.”

Listen to “We Were” below.

“We Were”

We were just a couple years short of the age by my name on the fake ID
And still about a hundred away from the day your daddy said, you could run with me
We were a couple of line steppers who just couldn’t wait to step over the line
Never thinkin’ we wouldn’t last, I was your first and you were mine

Chorus:
We were leather jackets hangin’ on to a Harley, two heartbeats in the moonlight
We were both feet hangin’ out over the edge of a water tower skyline
At least there’s a little bit of sweet in the bitter though a part of me is always gonna miss her
I am who I am, I just miss who I was when we were

We were gonna make it, weren’t we baby
Had it all laid out in our mind
By the time we knew, time was runnin’ out, we’d done run outta time
We were a downtown Saturday night, last call, cover band
‘Til the last song played, never thought we’d fade like the stamp on the back of her hand

We were her on my shoulders, lighter in the air
Pour Some Sugar On Me
We were top down in Johnson’s field when she whispered that she wants me
At least there’s a little bit of sweet in the bitter though a part of me is always gonna miss her
I am who I am, I just miss who I was when we were

Repeat Chorus

Yes, I do
Friends say, oh well, let that ship sail, you gotta let go of her
Just wasn’t meant to be but somewhere down deep, I still believe that we were

Watch Keith Urban Team With Irish Singer/Songwriter Foy Vance for Acoustic Performance of “Burden”

Watch Keith Urban Team With Irish Singer/Songwriter Foy Vance for Acoustic Performance of “Burden”

It’s safe to say Keith Urban is on the Foy Vance bandwagon.

Keith surprised viewers during the 2019 ACM Awards in April when he performed a live cover of little-known song, “Burden,” which was penned by Irish singer/songwriter Foy Vance. The tune, which originally appeared on Foy’s 2016 album, The Wild Swan, had a profound impact on Keith when he heard it for the first time in March.

“We played at the 02 in London and Ed [Sheeran] came out to see us play,” says Keith. “We talked about Foy [Vance], who’s an incredible musician and songwriter. The next day, I had a day off in London, so I got on my bike and put my headphones on and road around London for like two hours listening to Foy nonstop. And when I got back to Nashville, I realized that I had never seen him play live—he must be fantastic—so I jumped on YouTube and heard this song ‘Burden’ and just fell in love with him. I thought, ‘I’d love to be able to do a version of the song—the way that I was feeling it in my heart.’”

Keith contacted producer Dave Cobb, who he had never worked with, and recorded the song in Nashville.

Fast-forward a little more than a month later . . . Foy joined Keith in studio in Nashville to record a video of the two performing an acoustic version of “Burden.”

“Spent some time in studio with the wildly and celestially talented @foyvance—they don’t make em like him anymore…. I don’t even think it’s legal!!! – KU,” said Keith on Instagram.

Dolly Parton Opens $37-Million “Wildwood Grove” Expansion at Dollywood With New Roller Coaster, Climbing Structure & More [Photo Gallery]

Dolly Parton hosted the grand opening of the $37-million Wildwood Grove expansion at her Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., on May 10 and 11.

Wildwood Grove, which represents the largest capital investment in Dollywood’s 33-year history, features 11 new experiences for guests, including a new restaurant, climbing structure and roller coaster called the Dragonflier.

“When I was a little girl growing up in the hills of the Smoky Mountains, I’d often let my imagination just run away—something I still do now—dreaming these big dreams about what it’d be like to venture off with a family of bears in to the woods or how fun it would be to hitch a ride with the butterflies and dragonflies,” Dolly said. “All us kids would splash and play in the creeks and ponds around home and have these daydreams about the world around us, and that’s what’s so special about Wildwood Grove. We’ve been able to create a new area to allow families to experience some of those exact dreams we all had when we were little.”

Wildwood Grove’s Featured Attractions:

  • Wildwood Tree: A 55-foot tree that grows from a cluster of natural rocks and boulders, which serves as the area’s focal point and features a nighttime show and concerts. Its canopy is adorned with 650 lighted butterflies and thousands of leaves.
  • The Dragonflier: A suspended 453-meter roller coaster that lets guests soar like a dragonfly.
  • Black Bear Trail: A ride where kids can hop on the backs of mechanical bears for a trek around the area.
  • Sycamore Swing: A leaf boat swing which will swing guests back and forth.
  • Treetop Tower: A ride that sends guests 40 feet into the air in giant acorns and spins them around to see the Smoky Mountains.
  • Mad Mockingbird: A ride that spins guests in circles, and they can control their experience by moving a sail.
  • Frogs & Fireflies: A ride where guests can hop on frogs and ride them as they race each other around a lily pad.
  • Hidden Hollow: A 4,000-foot indoor, climate controlled climb structure with slides and games.
  • Wildwood Creek: An oasis with pop jets and splashing pools.
  • Four new costumed characters and entertainment including Flit and Flutter, butterfly ambassadors for the Wildwood Tree, and Benjamin Bear.
  • Till & Harvest: A restaurant featuring fresh Southwest items including burritos, salads, pulled pork, slaw, a topping bar with salsas and a walk-up window with churros and ice cream.

“UglyDolls” Movie With Blake Shelton & Kelly Clarkson Is Flopping at the Box Office

“UglyDolls” Movie With Blake Shelton & Kelly Clarkson Is Flopping at the Box Office

The new UglyDolls movie is not performing as hoped at the box office.

After opening on May 3, the flick has reportedly only grossed $14.2 million domestically, according to Box Office Mojo, with a $45 million production budget.

MovieWeb.com reported: “Unfortunately, with such a tepid debut, it’s long-term prospects aren’t great, even when factoring in international box office. As such, it’s expected to lose a good chunk of change for the studio [STXfilms].”

The movie has been panned by critics, with a score of 30 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson voice animated charters in the UglyDolls movie, which is based on the UglyDolls toy brand that features “characters who are distinct for their endearing ‘ugliness’ in a wonderful ‘uglyverse’ where differences are celebrated and embraced.”

According to the movie’s press release, “Unconventionality rules in UglyDolls, the new animated family adventure based on the beloved toy brand. In the adorably different town of Uglyville, the free-spirited Moxy and her friends confront what it means to be different, struggle with their desire to be loved, and ultimately discover that you don’t have to be perfect to be amazing because who you truly are is what matters most.”

Blake’s character, Ox, fancies himself the defacto mayor of the UglyDolls, while Kelly voices Moxy, the confident leader of the group.

STXfilms released UglyDolls in theaters on May 3, one week earlier than the initial plan. An animated kids series is also underway with a full series order of 26 episodes from Hulu.
