Watch Lanco’s Redemptive New Video for “Rival”

The guys from Lanco—Brandon Lancaster, Chandler Baldwin, Jared Hampton, Tripp Howell and Eric Steedly—dropped a new video for “Rival,” the lead single from the band’s upcoming sophomore album.

Directed by Peter Zavadil and filmed in Nashville, the new video features a diverse crowd of folks who share their personal hardships with each other in an effort to “break down walls.”

“We really wanted to capitalize on the true message behind the song that was built from different times in our lives and the stories from fans who have felt beat-down and lost, but ultimately find hope and redemption,” says Lanco’s frontman, Brandon. “Every caption on that wall was an experience that person had to overcome, and when it was knocked down you could feel the genuine joy from everyone on the set. It was a powerful moment I’ll never forget.”

Produced by Jay Joyce, “Rival” was co-penned by Brandon Lancaster and drummer Tripp Howell.

Thomas Rhett Releases Nostalgic New Track, “Remember You Young” [Listen]

Thomas Rhett Releases Nostalgic New Track, “Remember You Young” [Listen]

Thomas Rhett released a nostalgic new song, “Remember You Young,” from his upcoming fourth studio album, Center Point Road, which will drop on May 31.

Penned by TR, Jesse Frasure, Ashley Gorley, “Remember You Young” follows the release of the album’s lead single, “Look What God Gave Her,” which is currently No. 14 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart after seven weeks.

“We wrote this song about the people in life that we love, and always remembering them in their youth no matter how much time passes and we all change,” Thomas Rhett said. “There’s something sentimental about remembering your very best friends who have real jobs and families now tearing it up in college, or picturing me and my wife with no cares at the Tin Roof back in Knoxville. I love that the last verse is a bit of twist with it all coming full circle. It actually makes me emotional . . . it’s easily one of my favorite tracks on the album.”

The 16-song album takes its name from the street in his Tennessee hometown that shaped much of his life experiences. TR co-penned every track on the album, which also features a who’s who of top songwriters, including Shane McAnally, Karen Fairchild, Rhett Akins, Josh Osborne and more.

In addition, the album features a number of collaborations with other artists, including Kelsea Ballerini (“Center Point Road”), Little Big Town (“Don’t Threaten Me With a Good Time”) and Jon Pardi (“Beer Can’t Fix”).

“For me, Center Point Road really symbolizes what it was like to grow up in Hendersonville [Tennessee],” says TR. “First dates, first football games, first heartbreak, first kisses, success and failures. I really feel like that road shaped who I am today, and it felt fitting because the record, for the most part, is pretty nostalgic. Songs like ‘Almost,’ ‘That Old Truck’ and especially ‘Center Point Road,’ really describe who I was as a kid and teenager, and who I’ve become as an adult.”

Sheryl Crow Releases Powerful New Johnny Cash Duet, “Redemption Day” [Watch Video]

Sheryl Crow Releases Powerful New Johnny Cash Duet, “Redemption Day” [Watch Video]

Sheryl Crow brought Johnny Cash back to radio airwaves on April 19 with a little editing ingenuity.

Sheryl released a re-booted version of her song, “Redemption Day,” in the form of a duet with the Man in Black.

After touring war-torn Bosnia with First Lady Hillary Clinton in 1996, Sheryl penned “Redemption Day” and included it on her self-titled album that same year. Johnny recorded the song shortly before he died 2003, and it was featured on his posthumously released 2010 album, American VI: Ain’t No Grave.

With the blessing of Johnny’s estate, Sheryl re-recorded “Redemption Day” and added Johnny’s vocals to the new arrangement for her upcoming album of collaborations.

“Johnny Cash recorded it [in 2003] and felt like it would be the cornerstone of his record,” says Sheryl. “He was adamant about knowing what every lyric meant and he really delivered the song in a way that felt like for him it would be the most important song on his record . . . but two months later he passed, so cut to now and I’m making a record of collaborations and I asked the family if they would give me their blessing in letting me use his vocal. I feel like the song has finally found its moment. I re-recorded it, rearranged it, and Johnny and I are both singing the song. I hope he would be proud of what we’ve done and feel like it has met its moment.”

The video for “Redemption Day,” directed by Shaun Silva, incorporates footage of Sheryl and Johnny next to scenes of a young child watching history unfold, in all of its tragedy and triumph.

“As a mom of two young kids,” says Sheryl, “I see that our kids watch what we do on their behalf and how we shape their future. They’re privy to everything visual, especially now, and there’s no way to shield your child from the roughness of reality. If we could see the world through a child’s eyes, we would make different decisions.”

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee women’s basketball head coach Kellie Harper announced Thursday that Australian three-point specialist Jessie Rennie has signed a National Letter of Intent during the spring signing period to play for the Lady Vol program, beginning with the 2019-20 season.

UT’s third-ever international player (Cheridene Green/England, Lou Brown/Australia) joins three other 2019 signees who comprise a recruiting class currently ranked No. 9 in the United States and third in the Southeastern Conference by espnW HoopGurlz.

Rennie, a 5-foot-6 guard who hails from Kangaroo Flat in the Australian state of Victoria, attended Bendigo Senior Secondary College. She has competed for the Bendigo Spirit of the Women’s National Basketball League and the Bendigo Lady Braves of the South East Australian Basketball League.

Despite her youth compared to the other participants, Rennie rose through the ranks of the club circuit to earn a roster spot with the Bendigo Lady Braves. She played in 10 games her first year in 2016, hitting 14 of 39 field goals (.359), including 13 of 34 beyond the arc (.382). She was a perfect two of two from the free throw line and averaged 4.3 points per game.

In 2017, she saw duty in 25 games, connecting on 56 of 128 field goal tries (.438), knocking down 32 of 88 (.364) shots from beyond the arc. She was 11 of 12 at the charity stripe and averaged 6.2 points per contest. Rennie missed all of the 2018 season after suffering a torn ACL but has since recovered.

Rennie first started playing for the Bendigo Lady Braves at the U14 level. She then played for the U16 Victoria Country team before representing her nation during a tournament in New Zealand. She has managed a blossoming basketball career while living with Type I Diabetes.

“We are happy to be adding Jessie Rennie to the Lady Vol family,” Harper said. “My staff and I look forward to getting to work with all four of our incoming freshmen when they arrive on campus in May.”

Fall signees include the nation’s consensus No. 1 guard and No. 2 overall player, 6-foot-2 Jordan Horston (Columbus, Ohio / Columbus Africentric Early College), as well as 6-5 center Tamari Key (Cary, N.C. / Cary H.S./No. 46 by espnW HoopGurlz) and 6-5 F/C Emily Saunders (Mullens, W.Va./Wyoming East H.S./No. 88 by ProspectsNation). Like Horston, Key is a five-star recruit, according to espnW HoopGurlz, while Saunders is a four-star prospect, as rated by ProspectsNation.com.

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Dream have signed Tennessee women’s basketball standout Meme Jackson to a training camp contract, the WNBA franchise announced on Wednesday evening.

Jackson, a 5-foot-11 graduate of Blackman High School in Murfreesboro, Tenn., is the 48th Lady Vol to move on to the WNBA and the 60th to play professionally in any league.

The wing player was UT’s third-highest scorer during the 2018-19 season, averaging 10.8 ppg. and leading the team in scoring on seven occasions. She led UT in 3-pointers made as a senior, hitting 54, and knocked down three or more treys in nine games. Jackson finished with 129 career three-balls, just missing the Lady Vols’ all-time top 10 by four.

Starting 27 games as a senior and averaging 29.9 minutes per contest, she was the Big Orange’s second leading free throw shooter at 83 percent. Jackson earned her way onto the Junkanoo Jam All-Tournament Team following Tennessee wins over Clemson and UAB for the Junkanoo Division title.

Among her most memorable games in 2018-19, Jackson went four of nine from behind the arc and nine of 11 from the free throw line en route to a career-high 33 points against No. 12 Texas. She also knocked down five threes and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the line to finish with a team-high 27 points at Auburn.
