Watch Midland Cover Bruce Springsteen’s “Tougher Than the Rest” at Nash Country Kick-Off Party

Watch Midland Cover Bruce Springsteen’s “Tougher Than the Rest” at Nash Country Kick-Off Party

One more night, one more round . . . The third annual Nash Country Kick-Off Party went down on June 5 at Nashville’s Cannery Ballroom to help CMA Fest (June 7–10) get the party started early.

Reigning ACM New Vocal Group of the Year Midland headlined the gig, with special guests Radio Romance, Abby Anderson and Brown & Gray.

Sponsored by Nash FM 103.3, all proceeds from the NASH Country Kick-Off Party will benefit Musicians on Call, an organization that brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities.

Midland treated the packed house to a number of songs, including their Grammy-nominated “Drinkin’ Problem” and “Make a Little,” as well as a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Tougher Than the Rest,” a tune that The Boss wrote and featured on his 1987 album, Tunnel of Love.

Watch Midland perform “Tougher Than the Rest” below.

Stars Come Out as Craig Campbell Hosts 6th Celebrity Cornhole Challenge to Fight Colorectal Cancer [Photo Gallery]

Stars Come Out as Craig Campbell Hosts 6th Celebrity Cornhole Challenge to Fight Colorectal Cancer [Photo Gallery]

Craig Campbell found himself in a familiar role on June 5 as he hosted his 6th annual Celebrity Cornhole Challenge to benefit Fight Colorectal Caner (Fight CRC). A number of Craig’s country music-loving friends joined the fun at Nashville’s City Winery, including his wife Mindy, Russell Dickerson, Lindsay Ell, Walker Hayes, Brett Kissel, NASCAR driver Scott Lagasse Jr., LOCASH, Tegan Marie, Morgan Mills, Jerrod Niemann, Taylor Phillips, Dee Jay Silver, The Cadillac Three and Brett Young.

Over the years, Craig has helped raise more than $300,000 as a national spokesperson for Fight CRC, a charity organization which supports research, education and awareness for colorectal cancer.

“My dad was 36 when he died with colon cancer,” says Craig to Nash Country Daily. “It’s always been something I wanted to talk about. The older I got, the more I realized that my dad died at a very young age. And if he would have known and been educated about colorectal cancer and the steps to prevent it, there’s a chance he could still be around hanging out with us right now. So that’s my message. Don’t be scared of a colonoscopy . . . Colon cancer is very preventable. Colon cancer is very treatable. We need to educate people on that fact that if you catch it soon enough, it can be [treated].”

On June 8, Craig will drop a new seven-song EP, See You Try. The new EP will be Craig’s first project since he released Never Regret in May 2013. The EP’s title track and lead single is currently No. 52 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart after four weeks.

“For the past few years, I’ve created and found some of the best music of my career,” says Craig. “I’m beyond excited to release this EP and show the country music world what I’ve been up to. I’m very proud of the music and can’t wait for everyone to finally hear these songs.”

Bust a Move as You Listen to Little Big Town’s New Single, “Summer Fever” + Lyrics

Little Big Town released a new single, “Summer Fever,” on June 6.

The new track was co-penned by Jesse Frasure, Cary Barlowe, Sam Romans and LBT’s Karen Fairchild, who is also featured on lead vocals.

“Summer Fever” was co-produced by Frasure and Shane McAnally, who is confident the new tune will implore fans to bust a move.

“I dare you to sit still when this song comes on . . . it’s impossible,” said Shane. “I don’t even dance, but something comes over me when this thing kicks in. I can’t wait for the world to catch ‘Summer Fever.’”

“It’s always amazing when a song seems to just wait for its own perfect timing,” added Jesse. “Getting the chance to bring this song to life in the writing room with my co-writers, and through the opportunity to co-produce with my friend Shane McAnally has been a dream come true. I can’t wait to hear this song coming out of a rolled down window this summer.”

Little Big Town will perform the song live on the CMT Music Awards on June 6.

Listen to “Summer Fever” below.

“Summer Fever”

Feel that salt in the air, almost there
Got that wind in my hair, Ray-Ban glare
Hear that song we love on the radio
Stir it up, baby we both know

We’re ‘bout to float that Malibu
With that flip-flop attitude
With that old school mixtape playing

Chorus:

Over and over again on a blown out speaker
Dance in the sand while the sun sets deeper
Got that top back on that Jeep
Got that soundtrack on repeat
Got that one hand on my knee and I want it
Over and over again catching summer fever, summer fever, summer fever

Close our eyes and let it take us
Lost in the waves and the palm trees swaying
All alone and out of reach
Just the stars and the moonlight, you and me

We’re ‘bout to float that Malibu
With that barefoot attitude
With that slow jam mixtape playing

Repeat Chrous

Endless sun kissed smile on our face
Chase that love like it’s running away
And I want it
Yeah I want it
Ohhhh

Repeat Chorus

Over and over again catching summer fever, summer fever, summer fever

Luke Combs Looking Forward to Buying a House After Scoring 3rd Consecutive No. 1 Hit With “One Number Away”

Luke Combs Looking Forward to Buying a House After Scoring 3rd Consecutive No. 1 Hit With “One Number Away”

Now that Luke Combs is three for three, it’s time to buy a house.

The gifted vocalist and songwriter scored his third consecutive No. 1 single on the Billboard Country Airplay chart with “One Number Away,” which follows previous No. 1 tunes “Hurricane” and “When It Rains It Pours.” The three No. 1 singles are featured on Luke’s 2017 debut album, This One’s For You.

“It’s hard to believe—three No. 1s within a year,” says Luke to NCD. “It’s been a wild ride, for sure. We have some great fans, and I’m super thankful for the success of the songs.”

To celebrate the one-year anniversary of his No. 1 debut album, Luke released a deluxe edition of the record on June 1.This One’s for You Too features 17 tracks, including the 12 originals from his debut album and five news songs: “Must’ve Never Met You,” “Houston, We Got a Problem,” “Beautiful Crazy,” “A Long Way” and “She Got the Best of Me.”

The financial success of his three No. 1 singles and debut No. 1 album—not to mention his new deluxe album—have the North Carolina native itching to buy a house in the Nashville area.

“I’m looking forward to buying a house soon, so I think that will allow me some time to sit down and think about some of the awesome stuff I’ve gotten to do over the last year,” says Luke. “I’m looking for a piece of land. I want some acreage to hunt and kind of get away from everything. I really like that space. I’m excited. I’d love to get that peaceful spot.”

Clap Along to Brett Eldredge’s Warm New Single, “Love Someone” [Listen]

Clap Along to Brett Eldredge’s Warm New Single, “Love Someone” [Listen]

Brett Eldredge will send a new single, “Love Someone,” to country radio on June 18.

Penned by Brett, Ross Copperman and Heather Morgan, “Love Someone” is featured on Brett’s 2017 self-titled album, which has already spawned one Top 5 hit, “The Long Way.”

“‘Love Someone’ is about the simplicity of love,” Brett says. “You know love is actually, when it comes down to it, a very simple thing. What are those things that you look for most in a companion? It’s someone that keeps you warm at night, that’s always there for you. Somebody that laughs at the way you dance—they think it’s funny but they love you for it. They smile when you’re holding their hand. This is one of those first-listen kind of songs that just makes you smile, makes you feel good, makes you want love if you don’t have it and makes you happy to be in love if you are.”
